This is one of my favorite scriptures. It gives me a mental picture of a God on the move. It brings to mind a mental image; but to describe Him, I’m not sure that I can.
Have you ever tried to describe God?
The more I know Him, the more I realize He is greater than any pulpit material. No sermon can touch His character and no church can hold Him. He cannot be confined to words; only actions.
He is living and He is sharper than any double edged sword. He cuts to our bone, joint and marrow. He lays back our flesh so His Spirit might dwell within us.
He never sleeps nor slumbers. He is always on the move. And He sings…
He refines us as silver and gold; He puts us through fire. He consumes us. From the inside out; He purges and prunes.
He is a whirlwind, a storm, and a whisper. He is a river. He is fire and His voice thunders over the waters.
He is the Tree of Life.
We have eyes to see and ears to hear, yet He moves upon our hearts. Rarely do we get a glimpse of Him physically; rarely do we hear His thunderous voice. He told Elijah no man could see Him and live…
God chose to move upon the heart; the place where we feel. The place that pumps life. He chose that spot to move upon and no other. Somehow our hearts give us understanding; not our intellect. Our intellect refutes God or a Man named Jesus. To the mind it is foolishness, but to the heart, where our hope lies, something happens..it desires and chooses to say “yes”.
What an unthinkable act. To refuse the intellect and choose the heart.
How do we describe One that we cannot see, only feel?
Many years ago, some did see; yet He was the antithesis of what they expected, so many refused.
Jesus; the fullness of God in flesh. A man. A Jewish man. A thirty-three year old Man; crucified. A thirty-three year old Man resurrected. A thirty-three year old Man ascended.
This same Man will return to Jerusalem…and then we shall see Him, every eye will see Him.
God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth and furious; the Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries and He reserveth wrath for His enemies; Nahum 1:2. kjv
The Lord slow to anger and great in power will not at all acquit the wicked. He rebuketh the sea and it dries up. The mountains quake at Him and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at His presence. Who can stand before His indignation? Who can abide in the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire. And the rocks are thrown down by Him…
He makes war. His eyes are flames of fire. On His head are many crowns.
He rides a white horse. His robes are dripping in blood. He carries a sword. He has a name no one knows but Himself…On His thigh this is written; KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS…
Once again He will return. And once again, He will be the antithesis of what we expect…
When Love comes down the second time; it will look quite different from how it did the first time Love arrived. He won’t be a Lamb led to the slaughter; He will be the Lion leading the slaughter.
This is Love…
