Eve picA few weeks ago, I told you of the day I fell into this mystery.  The more I peer inside and the more I send out my requests to the One who always answers; the mystery continues to unfold.

So what lies behind the veil of Eve?  What secret does she hold that has taken my heart captive?  Why should I, or anyone else be remotely intrigued by this woman?

What is it about Eve that makes her a standout among all other women?

When we read of her, she appears quite shallow on the page; not a lot is said.

But that fateful day in May brought me face to face with a longing heart…a steadfast woman…and a passionate God.

As I said; I fell into a mystery…

I believe for generations Eve has been overlooked.  Why, because she is misunderstood.

We have been unable to move past her disobedience. We hang on to the mental picture entangling her with the serpent. This has led us to believe she had no value. It has led us to move past her and not dissect her heart as we have others. We look at her life and deem her creation must have been a mistake; after all, to succumb to such temptation surely must mean a great  failure.

Eve inflicted a mortal wound on all humanity. We would reap what she sowed; from generation to generation humanity would live beneath a judgment on disobedience.

Yes, I fell into a mystery…

As I sat and wept that day in May, I found Eve was simply a woman, but she was not a simple woman.

Her facets are as a diamond; too many to be numbered and too beautiful to resist.

Have you ever pondered this woman Eve that existed preceding The Fall?  Has the most magnificent female and epitome of God’s heart ever crossed your mind in a light where her beauty, purity, and passion were revealed?

Have you ever considered what went through God’s mind when He created her?

I fell into a mystery…

These became my questions:

What was her personality like?  Was she quiet and soft spoken, or was she loud and exuberant? Did she laugh and sing or was she a dreamer?  Was she playful or more serious?  Was she tall or short? Blonde or brunette?

What was God’s picture of perfection with this magnificent creation called Woman?

She is a mystery…

Maybe we should begin by defining perfection.  Webster’s Dictionary defines the word perfect as, ” complete, flawless, and a condition of excellence”.

In this fallen world can we find perfection?  Is there true perfection, and if there is, is it tangible?  Can we begin to grasp it? And above all else, who defines perfection?

To the Christian, perfection is the Word, the Will, the Work of God, and the life of Jesus.  To the rest of the world is it social and material success, sprinkled with physical flawless youth.  Within this realm, we strive for what man defines as perfection.  And since man is not perfect, this will ultimately hinder our satisfaction in every sphere of life…

Complete, flawless perfection is actually found twice in the Bible. The first and most obvious is the Man Jesus Christ.  He was perfection of flesh.  He was complete and flawless, and He was the true picture of humanity living out excellence.  Jesus was complete for He was God in the form of flesh.  He was flawless for He lived a holy and sinless life.  Jesus was excellence for He was the character and very breath and heartbeat of God.

The second place we find perfection…well, remember the words in Genesis chapter one, verse one…

“In the beginning”…

Here too we find perfection.  It is here we find the infallible word of God spoken and perfection breathed into being.  We find His perfect will taking place through the existence of human design…

Yes, I fell into a mystery…

The mystery of Gardens, and unquenchable love.  It is the mystery of passion, desire, and romance.  And it is the mystery of an Eternal King pursuing us, and alluring us to Himself…
